Jubilee Oval Pavilion, Blackwattle Bay Park Glebe, NSW

The design approach for the restoration and extension of Jubilee Oval Pavilion was guided the prominent position of pavilion on the eastern edge of the Jubilee Oval.

While not heritage listed, the pavilion is restored to its former glory, retaining as much historical fabric as possible particularly in the seating area overlooking the oval. The existing changing rooms at the rear of the pavilion are extended and renewed in a way that clearly differentiates this new part of the building from the original.

The analogy to a hedge as the expression of the changing room extension allows the pavilion to recede while the historic pavilion’s pre-eminence is re-established on the edge of the oval.
