Rock Base

In 1998, as a bicentennial project, a major extension to the Australian Museum was built in the existing courtyard, creating an internal atrium between the old heritage building and the new extension. The atrium has now aged. The floor and the lighting need to be changed.

A giant photograph of a rock carved echidna, which is the logo of the Museum, i printed on the carpet, transforming dramatically the atmosphere of the space. This intervention introduces to the collection of the Museum which is physical and ethological. The new lighting will reduce considerably the energy consumption and achieve a more natural lighting environment
