The design creates a distinctive new school precinct by means of a shared outdoor learning courtyard directly accessible from the General Learning Areas on two levels.
Flexibility is provided by inter-connecting rooms with good physical and visual connections to outdoor learning areas, reflecting current educational principles. It creates learning spaces that respond to the current educational pedagogy and 21st century learning.
The Department of Education is planning a new building at Killara Public School which will provide 8 new classrooms and shared learning spaces. A replacement sports court will also be delivered as part of the school upgrade.
An addition of 8 flexible General Learning Spaces on 2 levels together with Amenities and an OOSH facility forms a new edge to the school’s campus along Ridgeland Avenue.
Each GLS opens to covered space outdoors so that teaching and activities can be held in alternative configurations. Teaching spaces connect internally for collaborative teaching opportunities.
